Hang tight, good things take time

Speakeasies

Drama Queens Speakeasys are recurrent spaces we curate where we engage in conversations. Each Speakeasy involves the curation of resources; literature, audiovisual, performance art around which the conversations can be grounded in and by feminist and pan africanist principles.

Speakeasies are our monthly conversation sessions where young adults gather in safe spaces to discuss in objective ways topics which would receive little or bigoted coverage in mainstream Ghanaian media.  Each Speakeasy involves the curation of resources around which the conversations can be grounded in and by feminist and pan africanist principles. Our Speakeasies have spanned conversations on reproductive justice, civic action, body autonomy through to abortion access and rights and representation in the media.
In May we explored friendships, platonic bonds and community as well as the tools with which we build them; music, movement and sound. This Speakeasy reflected African knowledge systems and doubled as a listening event for the first volume of the Flame On Initiative.
